About Pad Up Foundation

A mission born from the belief that every girl deserves dignity, education, and the chance to reach her full potential.

Our Story

Where It All Began

Pad Up Foundation was established with a simple but powerful vision: no girl should have to miss school, lose confidence, or sacrifice her future because she cannot afford menstrual hygiene products.

Across many underserved communities, countless girls face barriers caused by period poverty. Beyond the lack of sanitary products, many also experience stigma, misinformation, and limited access to menstrual health education.

Pad Up Foundation exists to change that reality. Through community outreach, school engagement programs, menstrual health education, and the distribution of sanitary products, the foundation empowers girls to manage their periods with confidence and dignity.

Every outreach program represents more than the donation of sanitary pads, it is an investment in education, confidence, health, and the limitless potential of every girl.

Our Direction

Vision & Mission

Our Vision

To create a future where every girl, regardless of her background or economic status, has unrestricted access to menstrual hygiene products, accurate health education, and equal opportunities to pursue her education and achieve her full potential.

Our Mission

To eliminate period poverty by providing menstrual hygiene products, promoting menstrual health education, advocating for dignity and equality, and building supportive communities where every girl can thrive.

What Drives Us

Our Core Values

Six principles that shape every decision, every outreach, and every interaction we have.

Compassion

We lead with empathy, treating every girl and community we serve with genuine care and kindness.

Dignity

Every girl deserves to feel respected and valued. We protect and restore dignity in everything we do.

Education

Knowledge is power. We deliver accurate menstrual health education that breaks stigma and builds confidence.

Equality

No girl should be left behind because of her economic circumstances. Equal access is a right, not a privilege.

Empowerment

We equip girls with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to shape their own futures and lead in their communities.

Community

Lasting change happens together. We build networks of support among girls, families, schools, and communities.

The Problem We Solve

Why We Exist

Period poverty is a silent crisis affecting millions of girls across Nigeria and beyond. When a girl lacks access to sanitary products, she doesn't just miss school, she loses confidence, falls behind, and faces an increased risk of dropping out entirely.

Studies show that 1 in 10 African girls miss school during menstruation, and many eventually drop out due to the shame and disruption caused by period poverty. This perpetuates cycles of inequality and denies girls their fundamental right to education.

But the problem is solvable. When we provide a girl with a pad, we give her the ability to attend class. When we educate her community, we break the stigma that holds her back. When we advocate at the policy level, we create systemic change that lasts generations.
